Deep Space Dive into NASA, Snoopy, and the Speedmaster – Podcast Episode 117

This is it! This is the week that the two of us have been waiting for since the end of last year when we found out that a major watch brand we are both major fans of was going to send us a sample piece. And not just any sample…we were going to get hands on with the OMEGA 50th Anniversary Silver Snoopy Speedmaster. Excited was an understatement. The question then became, “What do we do for a watch this special”? A podcast review just didn’t seem enough, until it dawned on us. One of the things we love most about this hobby is the story behind the watches, the brands, and the people. And if there’s one watch that has a story to tell, it is the Moonwatch. And with that, today’s episode was born.

“Why would anyone even want a watch with a cartoon dog on it?”

We decided to take a question that we see asked in forums all the time and dive in, telling the story of one hell of a watch. Today we are breaking down a few different events, three years apart, that led to the iconic watch that began this entire episode in the first place. We know the watches, but how did Snoopy even become associated with NASA? And how did OMEGA get involved? Get out your pens and notepads, this is a history lesson that you surely won’t want to miss! Check out the photos and links below for more information about what we discussed today. We hope you enjoyed this episode as much as we did! Be sure to tune in to our next episode later this week as we share our in-depth thoughts on the 50th Anniversary Snoopy Speedmaster.
