It seemed only a matter of time before we would see a hockey collaboration from the young independent brand NORQAIN, and that day has arrived. After all, when you design a watch brand around an “adventure lifestyle”, have former Swiss hockey legend and 2017 Stanley Cup winner Mark Streit as a board member, and Roman Josi (captain of the Nashville Predators and Norris Trophy Winner) as an ambassador, how could you not? *insert an overly enthusiastic “Go Preds” here. The involvement of both Streit and in much of the brand’s development since NORQAIN’s beginning in 2018 encouraged the brand’s entry into ice hockey. Earlier this year, NORQAIN had announced a partnership with the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) which goes far beyond being a “labor union” for NHL players. The association has also spent the past 20 years focusing on their Goals & Dreams program in which over 80,000 children in 34 countries have benefited from the players’ donations of hockey equipment as well as donating more than $25 million to grassroots hockey programs.
In honor of this partnership, NORQAIN has launched a limited edition Adventure Sport Chrono NHLPA, capturing the excitement of NHL hockey right there on the wrist. Limited to 500 pieces, this newest addition to the Adventure Sport Chrono falls right in line with the rest of the catalog as a robust and dynamic collection, perfectly capable of taking as many hits or body checks that you can throw at it. What sets this apart are the not so subtle and in your face design cues that clearly distinguish this watch as one meant for the hockey fan at heart. The dial goes through a 30 step production process (many of which are manual) to achieve a unique “scratched” white appearance that resembles the surface of an ice rink. At the 9 o’clock subdial, hockey fans will know without a shadow of a doubt that this watch screams action as the subdial has been designed with the face-off area as inspiration. Tying everything together is NHLPA logo in white at the 6 o’clock chronograph subdial, making you feel ready to grab your favorite team gear and head out to the rink for action-packed hockey.
