Nodus Introduces Their Newest Collection – Duality (and it is good!)

Having launched in just 2017, Nodus may be newer to the watch world, but they are consistently proving that they belong and are here to stay! This Los Angeles based company ran by two friends (Wes and Cullen) both design and assemble all of their timepieces in Los Angeles, USA. If you listen to any of their interviews, you can pick up instantly on their attention to detail and precision, a trait that is heavily communicated in their timepieces. Their newest release, Duality, is no exception. In two variations, Unity and Chasm, this has to be, in my opinion, their greatest creation yet. There are so many details that have been packed into this watch that appeal to collectors of varying taste, all while keeping a phenomenal price point. So, let’s check out what makes this watch so special.

From the beginning, the first thing that draws your attention is the double crown on this perfectly 40mm case. The black PVD grip helps make the screw down crowns easy to access with a surprising addition of luminescent sapphire inlays on the ends. The bracelet is an updated spin on their H-link design, with shorter links that should fit smoothly to any wrist and a microadjusting clasp with flip-lock button release. Along with two dial colors, you can select from two bezel options as well. Offered is a 60 minute dive bezel or a 12 hour travel bezel that are bi-directional and internally rotating as well as being fully lumed. And speaking of lume…this is a piece that looks just as handsome in the dark!

Needless to say, the most amazing feature on the Duality has got to be their first-of-its-kind hybrid dial. Look closely and you’ll notice that it combines both a sandwich dial and applied indexes. Between this unique combination and the bubble sapphire crystal, Nodus brings to us a new level of depth on dials that just isn’t found in the market today.

Our First Thoughts

First impression without being on the wrist is that Nodus has nailed it. Wes and Cullen have even redesigned their website in preparing for this launch (again tying into their passion for perfection and attention to detail). In describing this new collection, they go on to say the following…

“Built for both the thinker and the doer, the Duality channels the dualistic nature of life. All good things come in twos and the Duality is no exception. Two crowns, two colors, and two bezel options – the Duality can fulfill a multiple of needs.”

The Duality has so much to offer a wide variety of people and you can really see every detail that the guys have thought out in the design work of this piece. After the success of their newest Retrospect, they could have easily rested and continued to update their current collection. Instead they took a risk and it has paid off for them, as well as for the horological community as a whole. As an owner of two Nodus timepieces, I can attest to the quality and craftsmanship that Wes and Cullen put into their timepieces. Two years in and this is the quality that we are getting? Imagine what they will be producing in the next few years. Hats off to you and a round of applause for pushing the boundaries in design and innovation.
